Manage reusable assets
Open Assets in the sidebar to manage the reusable setup behind schedules and reports. This is useful when several projects should use the same naming, working calendars, views, or print standards.
Choose an asset type
| Tab | What it holds | Where you usually use it |
|---|---|---|
| Views | Saved schedule presentations | Gantt Views and summary reviews |
| Columns | Custom field definitions and options | Activity grid and import mapping |
| Calendars | Workweeks, shifts, and exceptions | Activity scheduling |
| Layouts | Printed-page setups | Print dialog |
| Resources | Reusable resource definitions | Resource assignments |
| Curves | Resource distribution patterns | Resource loading |
| Palettes | Color rules and styles | Schedule presentation |
| Reports | Reusable report setups | Batch printing |
| Quality Profiles | Check selection, thresholds, and scoring rules | Schedule Quality |
Create or save an item from the tool where you use it when appropriate: save a view in Views, save a print layout in Print, or create a calendar through the calendar editor. Assets brings the existing items together for management.
Understand scope
The asset tree and filters distinguish the available personal, workspace, and project locations. Supported scopes vary by asset type. Scope determines where an item is available and which permissions govern changes.
Use a personal/private view for your own review. Use a project asset for a job-specific setup. Use a workspace asset for a team standard that should be reused across projects.
An asset being visible does not mean you can edit or move it. Protected defaults and shared items may have fewer actions than items you own.
Find and inspect an item
Choose the asset tab, search by name, and narrow by scope, workspace, or project. Expand the tree to inspect the intended location. Check hide-empty settings if a location is missing.
Open the item’s edit or detail action to review its definition before changing it. A calendar with a familiar name may have different holidays; a view with the same title may belong to another scope.
Copy, duplicate, or move
Use the row or selection actions available for the asset:
- Duplicate makes another item in the applicable location for a variation.
- Copy and Paste support reuse in a permitted destination.
- Move changes an item’s scope/location where supported.
- Set default selects the applicable default where the asset type supports one.
- Delete removes the definition when permitted.
Review the destination and available dependencies. A report that refers to a view or layout needs those items to remain available. A view using a custom column needs the corresponding field definition and useful activity values.
Change a shared asset carefully
Changing a shared calendar, column definition, or view can affect other work that uses it. Decide whether you are correcting the standard or creating a local variation.
For a one-project exception, copy the standard, name the exception clearly, and assign or select the copy where needed. For a true standard update, coordinate the change with the people who rely on it and verify a representative schedule or report afterward.
Deleting an asset is different from hiding a column or closing a panel. Read any in-use restrictions and confirmation before removal.
Build a practical team starter set
A useful starter set can include a standard workweek calendar, a small set of consistent project columns, a milestone view, a lookahead view, an issued-schedule print layout, and an agreed quality profile. Add more only when a repeatable workflow needs them.
See the individual calendar, column, view, resource, quality, and print guides for editing details.
